Hello! My name is Nathan, and I am the Marketing Director for Source Direct. I’ve been here for almost 5 years, and I have worked with hundreds of inventors as they move through the process of getting their product developed. Throughout my time here, I have done my best to make the inventor feel comfortable and nurture the process of getting their idea into the marketplace.
During this process, we are asked so many questions, and that is NOT a bad thing! I have compiled some of my favorite questions and I’ve answered them directly below. I will answer 5 questions per week here on our blog. Take a look:
#1 – How do I know Source Direct isn’t going to steal my idea?
Simple – we’re not in the business of stealing products or ideas. It’s not a part of our business model, and never will be. Our goal is to securely assist inventors with their products and help them achieve success. We have non-disclosure agreements and contracts set up with every inventor so they can rest assured that their idea is safe.
#2 – How much does it cost to make my invention? Give me a price.
Unfortunately we’d be doing a disservice to tell you what the cost is before even seeing your product. If a company tells you to pay them to “make your product a reality” without even having a consultation….run. It’s likely a scam. Every product is different – we have to look at all of the parts so we can create a detailed explanation of the cost. Should you be ready to spend a decent amount of money? Sure. Will it absolutely monopolize your finances? Probably not. We can take a look at your idea and give you a quote for how much it’ll be to make it happen.
#3 – Does Source Direct just take a royalty of my sales later on?
We are an a la carte business. If you need product design, we can do that! If you just need sourcing and manufacturing, we can do that too! Need just marketing? Our team is on it. You pay us for the specific services needed and we do the rest. If you choose to have us warehouse and sell your product after manufacturing, there are certain percentages involved. We can work that out with you.
#4 – Can you guarantee that my product will sell?
In life there are only two guarantees – death and taxes. What we can guarantee is that our team will work extremely hard on your product and communicate with you every step of the way. We have many different sales options after manufacturing that may work for your invention.
#5 – How long does the process take?
Depending on the product itself, it could take 6 months to a year to complete a product. Possibly more! Our staff will give time estimates as the certain phases of the process occur, and you’ll be notified when it’s completed! The key is: DON’T RUSH IT! If you are trying to create a product for the Christmas Shopping season, start developing it in the December prior! Always allow for error.
